Edible Mail

pamk logoYesterday at the Autumn Dinner I served as amouse bouche Edible Soil which reminds we that I wanted to share with you the latest food discovery I made:  Post aus meiner Küche,  “mailing from my kitchen” in english. They announce a topic a few times a year and call foodlovers to register for a culinary exchange. Such a cool idea!!! I immediately fell in love with it and was longing for the new topic since weeks. Now I am curiously waiting to know who will be my mailing counterparty to send culinary greetings to. If you like experimenting in your kitchen as well, register and who knows, we might end up sending us something delicious! Registering is open until Nov. 6

CARAMEL – my next challenge

Even though some may still wallow in some of last nights’ flavours, it is time to announce the next Encontro dos Sabores suppernight happening Tuesday Nov. 19th

I have set myself a new challenge and will create a dinner with CARAMEL as the main ingredient. Those who had the chance to enjoy last years’ “Death by Chocolate” are already convinced that something usually known as a sweet can actually turn into a whole tasty dinner experience. And which month would be better suited than November to turn you into Caramel addicts?! I still have a little backlog in time as I was travelling for most of October. Time just allowed to test-cook the Autumn dinner and start thinking about the next menu. Hence, once more I am calling on your culinary curiosity and courage to sign up without knowing what will finally be on the plate.

CARAMEL    But here is today’s – yet untested – menu plan:

Tuna Tartar with Rasperry Balsamic Vinegar Caramel – Vegetable Caramel Bouillon

Scallops with Vanillasauce & Balsamic Caramel

Poached Apple in Manzana Caramel

A Cafe Gourmand with Caramel Sweets

Let me know by November 10 latest if you’d like to join, so I can timely enough send out your confirmations. As usual, the evening starts around 6.30 pm. Price: CHF 75 with & 65 without alcohol

Please let me know if you are allergic to anything, I want to make sure you only eat what is good for you. And if you liked you last stay @ Encontro dos Sabores and would like to share it with a friend, please do so!

I look forward to welcome you at my table!

Nancy

ps: If you want to check out previous dinner rounds, have a look here. The “Yummy Autumn” pic’s will be up before the end of the weekend, but for now, I wish you all a lovely weekend, despite the fog –  a clear sign that November has started 😉

pss: Counting the Chocoholics who want to have their seat already confimed before the official launch it seems that the Chocolate Dinner set for December 6 is already overbooked. I am playing with the idea to make it thus a special Encontro and find a venue which would allow serving more than the home-based 8 foodies. If you know you want to join the December dinner, please let me know asap so I could sort out a special solution!

Next @ EdS: Another yummy Autumn!

While days are markedly shorter and we already got a little preview of winter-like temperatures, there is also a pretty side to this time of the year. Its harvest season and the markets spill over with fruits, vegetables and flowers. Its the time to think about more savoury dishes to warm us up from inside 🙂

The next dinner round @ EdS will treat you with lots of yummy saisonal delicacies! I am busy test-cooking, creating recipes and a possible menu … Time is rather scarce this time and I won’t be able to reveal the full menu in advance, as I will be travelling for most of October. It will be a meaty dinner, with a vegie option available. Pumpkins, root vegetables, potatoes, pears, plums, these and many more will find their way on to the plates. If you are curious enough, then RSVP straight away to join the table on October 31st. 5 seats are available – 3 are already reserved! The evening starts at 6.30 pm.

Price: CHF 75 with & 65 without alcohol

Please let me know if you are allergic to anything, I want to make sure you only eat what is good for you. And if you liked you last stay @ Encontro dos Sabores and would like to share it with a friend, please do so!

Confirmations will be sent as soon as the table is fully booked!

I look forward to hearing from you,

Nancy

Busy week

Tomato Festival ’13 – it’s history already. Unbelievable how time is flying by. The dinner was a success and my dear guests were very surprised what could be created out of tomatoes. You will be able to check out the final menu soon, together with pictures of course!

But as always, after the dinner is before the dinner and my brain is food-working again and designing the next menu. We will celebrate another yummy Autumn- which caught us this week already, much faster than we all had expected. So stay tuned and watch out for the next dinner invitation, coming soon. October 31st is the day you should mark in your agenda.

cheers, Nancy

Ps: shopping for the tomato festival, mmmhhh

Tomato Festival ’13

tomate

Tomatoes turned into one of my favorite vegies, but only when they are really tasty. And this is now! While we try to enjoy the end of summer, tomatoes ripen to their very best. The markets spill over with beautiful varities, we unfortunately don’t find that easy in the supermarket staple.

Join us on September 17th for another yummy tomato festival with completely new recipes! A paradise for vegie- (lover)s. Here’s the inspiration for the menu, additions likely, last minute adjustments possible…

Yellow Tomato Bloody Mary (virgin or classic)

Tomato: white, red and green

Tomato Cumin Tarte

Tomato Creme Bruleè

Sweet Tomato Cake with Basil Icecream

….

If you don’t like anchovis or olives, please let me know – also if you have any allergies or intolerance. I will make sure you only eat what is good for you!

RSVPs are now open, first come, first serve. If you would like to recommend Encontro dos Sabores to a friend, please do so.

I look forward to welcoming you!
